Happy Monday to you! I hope you had a wonderful fall weekend!
I promised you these:
The Apple Pie Chips turned out very good! These ended up being chewy so I don’t know you if could rightly call them chips…. but either way, they are cinnamony-sweet and yummy and you should try them! :-) I imagine if you kept them in the oven for a bit longer than I did they would become somewhat crispy. I took them out after just about exactly three hours.
We munched on them while we painted.
Meet pumpkin-kitty. She was clearly quite satisfied with her work.
Hey, at least we didn’t have to clean up pumpkin guts!
Trader Joe’s did not happen this morning. :-(
In the interest saving a little time I shopped at good ol’ Jewel. Considering that it’s a mainstream grocery store chain, I am pretty impressed with the selection of natural and organic foods they carry. TJ’s will always have my heart, but Jewel still has a little corner of it too.
Yes, I brought my big honkin’ camera to the grocery store. Hard core foodography bloggers understand.
So now you can come with me through some of my favorite aisles. Don’t you feel special?
Favorite Aisle Number One:
Favorite Aisle Number Two:
Favorite Aisle Number — WAIT. How’d THAT get in there??? 😉
And what’s this? Twilight Sweethearts candies? In MY cart? Say it isn’t so!
They’re ACTUALLY sparkly, y’all. Sparkly hearts for Halloween. You wouldn’t have been able to resist, either.
(I chose Caramel Apple. Which reminds me that I haven’t had my daily cuppa yet. ‘Sup with that?)
Little side note here: That Hair Detangler spray is NOT just for kids. Nay. I use it almost every day because it’s AWESOME for getting tangles out of wet, just-washed hair without weighing it down. It matters not whether said hair is on the head of a toddler or a mama. You heard it here first.
Yeah baby.
This aisle had me a bit dumb-founded. (I know – shocking.) Several clean-eating recipes I’ve seen lately call for whole wheat pastry flour. My question is – is whole wheat pastry flour in a flour category of its own or is it just a fancy term for regular old whole wheat flour? Because there is not one package of whole wheat pastry flour in this entire store. If you know the answer to this great flour mystery, please advise. 🙂
Natural veggie chips rock my world.
As do Food Should Taste Good chips!
Long live Bob’s Red Mill products!
Especially this:
Best GF pancake mix EVER.
They have a lot of other GF foods, too. I love the pretzels!
Great nut butters, nutrition bars and all-natural dried fruit strips.
Liss eats a cheese stick and one of these bars every morning for breakfast because it’s an all-natural breakfast that’s yummy and very fast!
Great organic cereals….
And who doesn’t love walking down the aromatastic coffee aisle?
This display made me smile.
It blows my mind that we’re heading right into the holiday season already!
My shopping trip usually ends in the produce section. I go organic as much as possible.
Over the weekend, the hub very briefly mentioned that white-chocolate covered honey wheat pretzels sounded good.
Wifey of the Week award? Me??? Oh, I’m positively BLUSHING!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading!
***** QUESTION FOR YOU: What’s your favorite grocery store aisle?
Which Jewel? Ours does not have Bob’s Red Mill stuff.
The one right across from my neighborhood in Fox Lake (Rt. 12).
🙂
Ahah! The one in McHenry has a good healthy section, but apparently not as good as yours.
Pretty tree! most of our trees lost their leaves already. Except our maples which have pretty red/burgundy leaves right now.
Love your pumpkin very cute ! 🙂
The white chocolate pretzels look good!
***** QUESTION FOR YOU: What’s your favorite grocery store aisle? I do not have a favorite Isle.
That tree is next to Lissy’s preschool – it might be a maple, not sure. It’s HUGE and so pretty!
🙂
Is that bread you show in the Organic isle or the Bread isle? I’ve been wanting to try Ezechiel bread!
No clue about the flour…. do you think your friend with the whole foods store may know?
I also don’t really have a favorite isle… but I do like to look at magazines, tho now I can’t buy any! 😦
I’m thinking of maybe ordering some “all natural” candy for the holidays so the kids aren’t eating just junk… let me know if you find any locally!
The bread is in the regular frozen foods aisle, across from the frozen pizzas. They have Ezekiel and Udi’s, which are both awesome!! (Udi’s is gluten free!)
My friend with the whole foods store? Who dat?
🙂
Just found this on facebook! If you’re one of the first 100,000 to respond you get a coupon in the mail for a free bag of “Food should taste good” chips!

Those chocolate covered pretzels look so yummy! I love those pretzels plain, dipped in chocolate = heaven!!!! 🙂 Haha
I don’t know if I have a favorite aisle? I do like going down the coffee aisle though. Smells so good!
Thanks Bets!! And thanks for the whole wheat pastry flour info too! ❤

By the way, I googled whole wheat pastry flour and it is a flour of it’s own (http://www.bobsredmill.com/whole-wheat_pastry-flour.html). I don’t know where you’d purchase it other than online though – sorry, I failed you. Lol
Oh and I also found out that the whole wheat pastry flour has a higher starch and lower gluten content than regular whole wheat flour. It offers less structure for your product, but will give you a more tender result.
The things you learn online.
I will stop commenting now.
thanks for the pictures I am feeling a little hungry now.
You are wife of the year!!! Those look really good. I love pretzel + chocolate 🙂
I need to find those Eclipse sweethearts — how hilarious!
Favorite grocery store aisle: I love walking down the coffee aisle — it smells incredible!
Wendy, I often buy those hydroponic coral leaf lettuces, and some days I think they look good enough to be a wedding boquet!!
