Be patient. I have a few things to show you first. 😉
Apple butter is so versatile.
It’s so wonderful spread on a piece of toast, baked into muffins – OH MY. I’m gonna try apple butter muffins soon! Yesterday afternoon the hungries struck my belly fiercely, so I stirred some into a warm bowl of oatmeal. Also added a few white chocolate chips just for a little something extra.
It was THAT good. Stirring yummy things into oatmeal has become a pretty regular thing over here. Love me my OATS!
Last night’s acorn squash tacos were super-fantastico! Keep in mind, they were originally supposed to butternut squash tacos but the acorn worked fabulously and provided great little bowls for all the taco ingredients!
Cut the squash in half and scoop out the seeds and strings from the middle. I love how these guys look like flowers when they’re cut in half!
Put them flesh-side-down in a baking dish, then add about 1/2 inch of water to the dish. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until soft.
Fill with your favorite taco fixins! We used grass-fed ground beef and all these gorgeous veggies:
We also had a few Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips for some *crunch*, Greek yogurt, steamed cauli and broc and fresh organic plums.
P.S. The plums were unbelievable!!!
This smiley squirrel graced our backyard yesterday. I know, I know….these guys can be pesky and aggravating but he’s flippin’ adorable.
Our babies were thoroughly intrigued.
“Really, Mom? You’re gonna try to get us to look at the camera when there’s a smiley squirrel in our backyard? We are not amused.”
On to the REALLY FUN STUFF!
It’s GIVEAWAY TIME!
This one is sort of random but I think you’ll like it.
Remember these?
Two of these jars of my very own homemade dill pickles can be yours.
They should be ready to eat by November/December, so you can keep them somewhere safe until then. Maybe even on the countertop or the windowsill just cuz they’re so purty. 🙂
Guess what else you’ll get if you win?

Good luck, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading!
Seriously – you want us to pick ONE!?!?! You do have a wonderful “sense” of humor. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a Yankee candle so I have to tell you my favorite current candle is Strawberry Rhubarb. In fall, it’s anything pumpkin spice. Truthfully, I want to try the pickles! 😛
Your Pickles look so yummy! It will be hard not to open them until November 🙂 My favorite “Yankee Candle” is Balsam and Cedar scent. They are all so wonderful! Thanks for the chance… ~ Take Care!
oh that balsam and cedar is great! i love to have that when it’s xmas time! makes the whole house smell like a christmas tree.
I love your food pictures, everything looks so good!
I like squirrels, even though they can be pesty, we don’t have a lot of squirrels here since we don’t have a lot of old trees, we do have a lot of 13-lined ground squirrels which are cute to watch along, with raccoons, skunks, opossums, frogs salamanders and a lot of rabbits.
That squirrel was a lot of behavioral enrichment for your cats! Love the pics. I like their facial expressions, it was like they really didn’t want to turn around but did anyway 🙂
Oh my definite favorite is Mountain Lodge. I just found it last week and I’m in heaven! It makes me picture myself in a log cabin in the autumn woods with a roaring fire, cozy blankie, hot coffee by my side and my kitty snoozing on my lap while I knit. ahhhhhhhh…………..
I especially love candles in the fall. My favorite is Harvest from Yankee Candle.
mmm, the pickles look so good!
I use a Scentsy burner usually, but love the smell of anything home-baked. Right now I am smelling Sugar Cookie…yum!
My very favorite candle scent is the Yankee Apple Cider scent!

That squirrel post reminds me of the squirrel up on our 2nd floor deck last week. The dog scared him to death and he jumped off the deck and landed in the pool, swam as fast as squirrely possible to the other side and then headed for a better (and dogless) yard 🙂
My daughter would kill for those pickles, so I’m letting you know that it is a very difficult decision to come up with my most favorite candle smell, but I’m going with Pumpkin Spice for Fall…followed closely by Sugar Cookie.
My favorite smell, but I think it is discontinued, was raspberries and creme!!
my favorite candle smell THIS time of year is pumpkin. summertime I love light floral scent, and one I had this year was a passionfruit – amazing. This sampler looks great – many holiday and fall “flavors”.
I like how the squash looks like a flower too 🙂 those look SO good topped with taco fixins… great idea, I may have to do this.
I would LOVE to try these pickles!! If I win them I have a FUN recipe I would feature them in !! 🙂
